Women's Lacrosse Loses to Rivier

Nashua, N.H. – The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team fell on the road to Rivier, 15-5, on Sunday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Raider Field. With the win, the Raiders improved to 6-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while the Falcons moved to 0-7 on the spring and 0-4 in league contests.

It was a two-headed attack for the visitors as freshman Aida Sarr (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore Jenny Luna (Brentwood, N.Y.) both netted two goals apiece. Freshman Jyllian Finkle (North Branford, Conn.) scored the other Falcon marker on the afternoon. Finkle's strike came on a free-position shot and was the first of her career.

Sarr won a team-high three draw controls, while three other Falcons registered two draw controls apiece. Defensively, freshman goalkeeper Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) and senior Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) both recorded two caused turnovers apiece.

In the cage, Fenn turned aside 14 shots in a losing effort for Albertus Magnus. On the opposite end, Courtney Lapierre made eight saves to earn her sixth win of the season.

The hosts opened the game on an 8-0 run over the first 18 minutes of action before Luna put AMC on the board with her first tally of the day. The Raiders would close the opening 20 minutes on a 3-1 run to take an 11-2 edge into halftime.

During the second half, Rivier otuscored Albertus Magnus, 5-3 to earn the league victory.

As a team, AMC was 7-of-9 on clears.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Tuesday, April 12, with a home conference clash versus St. Joseph (Conn.) that gets underway at 7:00 pm. The Falcons are looking avenge a 22-7 setback versus the Bluejays last March.
