Women's Lacrosse Weekly Preview: St. Joseph (Conn.), Bay Path & Norwich

Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team went 0-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play last week, falling at home to Johnson & Wales and on the road versus Rivier. In the midweek setback against JWU, three different Albertus Magnus players found the back of the net and freshman goalkeeper Lexie Fenn turned aside 16 shots. In a 16-5 loss at Rivier on Sunday, freshman Aida Sarr and sophomore Jenny Luna each scored two goals apiece for the Falcons.

This Week: The Falcons will take to the field three times this week with conference contests at home versus St. Joseph (Conn.) and on the road against Norwich sandwiched around a non-conference clash with Bay Path in the Bay State.

Last Year Versus the Bluejays: St. Joseph (Conn.) topped Albertus Magnus, 22-7, at Central Connecticut State University last March. In the game, the Bluejays blew open a 3-3 tie with five unanswered goals and never looked back. Luna paced the Falcons with three goals.

Last Season Against the Wildcats: The Falcons cruised to a 22-8 victory against Bay Path at home in March of 2015. AMC turned a one-goal lead into a seven-goal advantage thanks to ending the opening half on an 8-2 run. In the contest, Luna scored seven markers and added two assists, while both Amanda Montano and Miranda Jassil chipped in three tallies and one assist for the Falcons.

Last Spring Versus Norwich: The Cadets opened last season with an 18-1 victory at Albertus Magnus. Norwich jumped out to an early, 10-0, lead in the first half before adding eight more strikes in the second half. Luna scored the lone Falcon tally in the contest. Norwich outshot the hosts, 25-9, and won 14 of 21 draw controls.

Albertus Notes:
- Sarr scored three goals in a pair of conference losses last week for the Falcons. In a home setback versus Johnson & Wales, she scored one goal to go along with one caused turnover. Sarr ended the week with two goals, three draw controls and one caused turnover in a loss at Rivier. Sarr has now scored two or more goals in a game twice this season.
- Albertus Magnus is averaging just under four goals per game this spring.
- In the cage, Fenn has made 80 saves to go along with a .370 save percentage.
- Sarr leads the team in goals (9), assists (1) and points (10), while Jassil has added seven goals and a team-high 15 ground balls.
