Women's Lacrosse Falls on the Road to Lasell

Newton, Mass. -  The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team lost on the road to Lasell, 19-1, on Tuesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Grellier Field. The Lasers improve to 9-6 on the year and 5-3 in the GNAC, while the Falcons drop to 1-11 overall and 0-8 in conference play.

Freshman Megan Palumbo (Southington, Conn) scored her first two collegiate goals this afternoon while fellow classmate Jordon McComb (Cumberland, R.I.) tallied two goals of her own for the hosts. Bridget Doherty (Franklin, Mass.) and Danielle Chambrelli (Cheshire, Conn) both contributed with a hat trick and an assist for the Lasers in the victory.

Senior Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) scored the lone goal for the Falcons, her 13th of the season. AMC sophomore midfielder Alex Chan (Monroe, N.Y.) won two draw controls, while three other Falcons including Jassil scooped three ground balls apiece.

Senior Ashlee Pechulis (Westfield, Mass.) opened up the scoring for the Lasers in the first half on a feed from classmate Stefanie Welch (Hancock, N.H.) just 50 seconds into the game. Doherty scored two of her three goals in the following minutes to bump Lasell's lead to 12-0 before two tallies from Chambrelli closed the out the half.

The Lasers tacked on five goals in the final 30 minutes before Jassil broke the shutout on a free-position shot.

Lasell starting goal keeper Bridget Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.) backstopped the Lasers to her third win of the season (3-2), stopping four Falcons shots. Freshman Lexi Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) took the loss (1-10) with five saves for Albertus.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday, April 30, with a home conference clash versus Mount Ida that is slated to get underway at 5:00 pm.
