Women's Lacrosse Picked 10th in GNAC Preseason Poll

Winthrop, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team was picked to finish 10th in the 2018 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll. The poll, which was released on Tuesday afternoon, is voted on by the league's 11 head coaches.

The Falcons, who are coming off a 4-9 campaign a year ago, earned 26 points to finish 13-points ahead 11th-place Saint Joseph's (Conn.). Johnson & Wales received seven of a possible 11 first-place votes to take the top spot with 111 points. Lasell finished second in the poll, receiving 108 points overall and two first-place nods.

Saint Joseph's of Maine came in at No. 3 in the poll with the remaining two first-place tallies and 105 points. Mount Ida and Emmanuel (Mass.) rounded out the top five, as the Mustangs received 85 points and the Saints garnered 74.

Making up the remainder of the poll was Simmons with 62 points, Regis (Mass.) with 56 points, Norwich with 51 points, Rivier with 35 points, the Falcons, and the Blue Jays.

The women's lacrosse team opens the 2018 campaign on Tuesday, March 20 with a home GNAC tilt against Mount Ida.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and nearly 4,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 20 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
