Women's Lacrosse Snaps Losing Streak with Win over Mitchell

New Haven, Conn. – Sophomore Courtney Cacace (Brookfield, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team scores a game-high six goals and two assists for eight points as the Falcons snapped a five-game winning streak by defeating in-state rival Mitchell College, 16-10, in non-conference play on Thursday evening at Celentano Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Albertus Magnus opened regulation scoring three unanswered goals over the first four minutes of play before a man-up goal from Mitchell brought the score to within two, 3-1. Shortly after, sophomore Sabrina Pohlig (West Palm Beach, Fla.) scored back-to-back goals before Cacace scored three straight to extend the hosts' lead to seven, 8-1, with 11:33 left on the clock.

A minute later, Mitchell would score its final goal of the half at the 10:38 mark, but would head into halftime down, 9-2, as Korina Zelaya (Trumbull, Conn.) scored on a free position shot at the 1:54 mark.

Despite the Mariners outscoring the Falcons, 8-7, in the final 30 minutes of play, Albertus Magnus was able to seal the non-conference win behind three two-goal performances from Cacace, Alix Hughes (Trumbull, Conn.) and Kaitlin D'Agostino (Hamden, Conn.).
