Women's Lacrosse Falls on the Road to Johnson & Wales

Providence, R.I. - The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team fell on the road to Johnson & Wales University, 20-2, on Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half (14-2 JWU)

  • Junior Kaitlin D'Agostino (Hamden, Conn.) scored the first goal of the game at the 27:57 mark following a good clear attempt to give the Falcons the one-goal edge.
  • Two minutes later, JWU evened the score at 1-1 behind a goal from Maria Patane before rattling off six straight goals to push its lead to 7-1 with 19:33 left on the clock.
  • Freshman Madison Neilander (Wallingford, Conn.) broke up the Wildcats' run scoring her 10th of the season to cut the deficit to five, 7-2.
  • JWU closed out the first with a 7-0 run, including two goals from Marley Medina and Dani Lydecker, to take a commanding 14-2 lead at the half.

Second Half (6-0 JWU)

  • Albertus was held to only four shots in the second while JWU tacked on an additional six goals to put the game away 20-2.

KEY PERFORMANCES
Albertus:

  • Four different Falcons registered a caused turnover.
  • Senior Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) finished the game with a team-high four ground balls.
  • Sophomore Katherin Martinez (Norwalk, Conn.) scooped up three ground balls.
  • D'Agostino and Alexis Lape (Bristol, Conn.) won a draw control each.

JWU:

  • The Wildcats were led offensively by Patane who finished the game with eight points behind four goals and four assists.
  • Allison Pazienski also served as a threat for JWU as she recorded a team-high six goals and an assist for seven points.
  • Dani Lydecker won nine draw controls for the hosts while Marley Medina collected six.
