Falcons Drop 13-3 Decision to Regis College

Weston, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-3 decision to Regis College on Wednesday evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road clash at Regis Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Regis controlled the opening stanza as the Pride kept the Falcons off the scoreboard, 9-0, behind three goals from Emily Kosak and two from Kerri Anselmo and Alyssa Kelly.

Jordyn Ringuette scored twice within the first seven minutes of the second half to extend the Pride advantage to 11-0. Albertus finally broke through at the 16:15 mark thanks to an unassisted goal by Kaitlyn Ellsworth (Tolland, Conn.), but Anselmo scored on a free-position opportunity less than two minutes later.

Albertus would score twice in the span of 70 seconds, as Kaitlin D'Agostino (Hamden, Conn.) scored on a free-position attempt, and then Katherin Martinez (Norwalk, Conn.) grabbed the ensuing draw control, raced down the field, and found Alexis Lape (Bristol, Conn.) in front of the net, bringing the score to 12-3.

Ringuette would pick up her fourth goal of the match off an assist by Anselmo to complete the scoring.

KEY PERFORMERS
Albertus:

  • Martinez led the Falcons with five ground balls and four draw controls.
  • Freshman Madison Neilander (Wallingford, Conn.) finished with four shots on goal, two ground balls, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers.
  • Sophomore Maddy Rowe (Branford, Conn.) also finished with a team-high two caused turnovers to go with three ground balls. 

Regis:

  • Brooke Ross led the Pride with eight draw controls.
  • Kosak finished with a game-high nine ground balls along with two caused turnovers.
  • Ringuette scored a season-high four goals to lead the Pride, while Anselmo and Kosak each notched hat tricks with three goals apiece.
