NEW LONDON, Conn. - Forty-six seconds into the contest, Samantha Helwig (Northford, Conn.) netted the opening goal for the Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team on the road at Great Northeast Athletic Conference in-state opponent Mitchell College in head coach Kaitlin D'Agostino's (1st season) first collegiate win over the Mariners, 16-7, on Tuesday.
Helwig accounted for seven of the Falcons' goals, while Amber DeJonge (Grand Rapids, Mich.) secured four.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Helwig delivered the opening notch after a caused turnover and groundball from Briony Retasket (Beaverton, Ore.) followed by a successful Albertus clear.
- A minute after Helwig's tally, Rosie Rivera (New Haven, Conn.) took advantage of the short-handed hosts to put the Falcons up, 2-0, off the quick pass from DeJonge. With four and a half minutes remaining in the opening quarter, Rivera had a hand in another goal as Zoey Soost (Gillette, Wy.) found the back of the net to pad the visitors' lead by one.
- Danielle Collea (North Salem, N.Y.) stood tall in the net for the Falcons through the first half with one save that had the chance to cut the deficit to within a score.
- DeJonge closed out the opening 15 minutes with back-to-back unassisted goals 16 seconds apart.
- Jessica Krupnikoff snapped the scoring drought for Mitchell with a goal 16 seconds into the second quarter, but Helwig retaliated with her second goal of the contest three minutes later to keep the Falcons up, 6-1.
- Mitchell recorded three straight goals to shorten the gap before another Helwig score off a free position shot set up by a caused turnover and groundball by Amanda Zdru (Stratford, Conn.).
- The home team secured another goal with less than two minutes remaining in the half to narrow the Falcons lead to 7-5.
- Angelia Rheaume opened the third quarter with a tally to get within one, but Soost found a rebounded Falcons shot on goal to push Albertus back to a two-score lead, 8-6, with twelve minutes left in the period.
- Mitchell garnered its last goal of the contest at 10:44 in the third as Albertus netted a trio of goals in the quarter and five in the fourth to pull away from the Mariners.

- Retasket and Soost recorded their first career goal for the Falcons.
