Women's Lacrosse Falls to Salem State in Home Opener

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — In the home opener, the Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse dropped a 19-0 contest against Salem State University at Celentano Field on Wednesday.

First-years Victoria McDermott (Northford, Conn.) and Maya Dias (Trumbull, Conn.) split time in the net for the Falcons by alternating quarters.

  • Kaylee Rich and Jordan Turcotte each had two goals as Salem State opened up a 9-0 lead in the first quarter. 
  • In the second quarter, Dias held the Vikings to one goal on a trio of shots on goal.
  • At 5:21 in the second, Samantha Helwig (Northford, Conn.) drew the foul for a free position shot, but Nora Bradley made the save for Salem State.
  • Alexys Signor (North Haven, Conn.) recorded back-to-back draw controls to kick off the third quarter.
  • Six unanswered goals by Salem State in the third, including two from Megan Parthum extended the lead to 16-0.
  • The visitors closed the final quarter with three more goals.
