Kayla Lynch's goal in the 60th minute proved to be the game-winner as the Albertus Magnus women's soccer team fell to the defending Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) champions, Lasell University, 1-0 in GNAC play on Saturday afternoon.

Lynch scored the lone goal of the contest as she connected on a loose ball in the box for her fourth goal of the season as Lasell improved to 5-1-0 on the year and 2-0 in the league with the victory.

Albertus moves to 4-2-2 with the loss and evens its record out to 1-1 in league action.

Lasell controlled the ball throughout the first half before the Falcons' first shot of the afternoon in the 20th minute when senior Amanda Roke (Cheshire, Conn.) turned at the top of the box and ripped a shot into the hands of the goalkeeper.

Less than a minute left in the first half, a header by Shannon Skidmore (Terryville, Conn.) missed just wide after she connected on the ball off of a Shelley Mirmina (Milford, Conn.) corner kick.

At the half, the score was knotted at zero as Lasell held a 9-2 shots advantage at the break.

In the second half, Lasell outshot the Falcons 11-3 to finish the afternoon with a 20-5 advantage in the contest.

The Falcons' best scoring opportunity of the game came in the 74th minute when a long ball played down field found the feet of Acacia Nelson (Bridgeport, Conn.).  Nelson made a cut to the near side of the field to beat the keeper, who came out of the box.  As her shot was sent towards the open net, a Lasell defender ran into the box to make the remarkable save.

Albertus held the 2012 GNAC Player of the Year Bridget Lynch in check with just two shots on goal.

Leah Pappalardo made two saves in goal for the Lasers as she picked up the shutout victory, while Albertus' Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) made a season-high seven saves.

The Falcons return to action on Wednesday when they travel to in-state opponent Trinity for a 4:00 p.m. match-up.
