Falcons Ease By Bay Path 8-0

The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team cruised past Bay Path University 8-0 on Wednesday afternoon.  The Falcons outshot Bay Path 35-1 and held an 18-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Sophomore midfielder Danielle Polvan (East Haven, Conn.) scored the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute when junior forward Acacia Nelson (Bridgeport, Conn.) delivered a cross into the box for the assist.  Polvan would score just three minutes later, this time on freshman Angelina Piccilliro's cross to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead going into halftime. 

Freshman defender Morgan Gigliotti (Wolcott, Conn.) scored her first goal of the afternoon in the 56th minute off of freshman forward Liziana Silva's deflected shot to give Albertus the 3-0 lead.  Junior forward Kelly Kennedy (North Branford, Conn.) would add another goal just a minute later off of sophomore Miranda Jassil's pass to make the score 4-0.

Gigliotti would score her second goal of the afternoon when Nelson found her foot in the 65th minute of play for the 5-0 advantage.  Freshman defender Bianca Stefanacci (Milford, Conn.) would score on a header deflection by freshman Taylor Rotella (Milford, Conn.) following a beautiful corner kick from sophomore Bridget Judd (Branford, Conn.) in the 72nd minute to give Albertus the 6-0 lead.

Judd and Steffanacci would each add goals in the 80th minute to give the Falcons the eventual 8-0 victory.

Bay Path University sophomore goal keeper Alma Rizvani (Prospect, Conn.) made 12 saves on the afternoon for the visitors.

Albertus improves to 2-3 overall on the season while Bay Path drops to 1-3.  The Falcons return to action on Saturday as part of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) double header with the men's soccer team starting at 1:00 p.m. versus visiting Norwich University.  The men's game with take place at 3:15 p.m.  Saturday's Home GNAC contests will be open conference play for both teams.
