Women's Soccer Suffers 2-0 Setback against Suffolk

East Boston, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback against Suffolk University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) clash Wednesday evening at James A. Sarotri Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first scoring opportunity of the game came in the 20th minute when Suffolk's Carley Pearce took advantage of a goalie change for the Falcons and delivered a low corner shot from the right side for her second of the year. 

Midway through the first, the momentum of the game shifted to the Falcons as the offensive unit rattled off seven shot attempts, including four on target, but the Rams keeper kept the visitors off the scoreboard and trailing by one at the half. 

The hosts held the majority of possession in the second stanza, outshooting the Falcons by a 14-5 margin. Suffolk's Carleigh O'Brien put the game out of reach by scoring an insurance goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation.

  • Freshman Keegan Riccio led the Falcons offensive unit with a season-high seven shots.
  • Sophomore Haley Andrews (Prospect, Conn.) tallied five of the Falcons' 14 shot attempts.
  • Along with her goal, O'Brien finished with a team-high 10 shots.
  • Albertus outshot Suffolk in the first half, 9-6.
  • Freshmen Amanda McGeehan(Milford, Conn.) and Kelly Musante (Wallingford, Conn.) also chipped in with a shot each. 
  • Alyssa Barahona picked up an assist for the Rams. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Streater recorded her third start in net for the Falcons.
  • Streater was one save shy of tying her season-high of four. 
  • Albertus is 2-3-1 on the road while Suffolk is 4-2.
