Women’s Swimming & Diving Picks Up First Victory of Season Over Elms

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's swimming & diving team picked up its first victory of the season with a 71-53 triumph over Elms College in today's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) meet hosted by the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.). The Falcons suffered setbacks to the host Blue Jays, 143-57, and to Saint Joseph's College of Maine, 140-43, at today's meet.

Sophie Olander (Amston, Conn.) took home a first-place, a second-place, and three third-place finishes in today's meet, while Maria Estrada (Guatemala City, Guatemala) captured two second-place showings and two third-place finishes.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
1000 Yard Freestyle
• Olander captured the crown of the 1,000-yard freestyle event with a first-place time of 13:03.42.

200 Yard Medley Relay
• In the first event of today's meet, the relay team of Chloe Oliver (Milford, Conn.), Estrada, Camilla Gordillo (Naugatuck, Conn.), and Olander took third place with a time of 2:34.86.

100 Yard Breaststroke
• Estrada placed second with a time of 1.23:80.

50 Yard Freestyle
• Estrada captured third place with a time of 29:07.
• Gordillo finished in seventh place with a final time of 34:38.

50 Yard Backstroke
• Oliver took home seventh place in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 38.75.

100 Yard Freestyle
• Gordillo completed the event with a sixth-place showing behind a time of 1:18.09.

100 Yard Backstroke
• Oliver swam to a third-place finish behind a time of 1.23:08.

500 Yard Freestyle
• Olander took home third-place with a time of 6.24:79.

200 Yard Freestyle Relay
• The relay team of Gordillo, Oliver, Olander, and Estrada took home a second place finish in 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 2.04:89.

UP NEXT
The Falcons return to Bruyette Natatorium on Saturday, Nov. 12, for a GNAC road meet against Saint Joseph, Colby-Sawyer College, and Saint Joseph's College of Maine. Event one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
