Women’s Swimming & Diving Records Multiple Individual Winners at USJ Meet

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's swimming and diving team tallied three individual winners in a road meet against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foes Colby-Sawyer College and the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Sunday inside Bruyette Natatorium.

Maria Estrada (Guatemala City, Guatemala) won the 200-yard individual medley, Ana Lucia Gutierrez Gomez (Sonora, Mexico) took 200-yard freestyle, and Sophie Olander (Amston, Conn.) paced the 1,000-yard freestyle to tally wins for the Falcons.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
1000 Yard Freestyle
• Olander secured yet another first place finish with a season-low time of 12:54.44.

200 Yard Individual Medley
• Estrada picked up the victory in the 200 IM with a time of 2:35.66, finishing almost three seconds clear of the field.

200 Yard Medley Relay
• The quartet of Chloe Oliver (Milford, Conn.), Gutierrez Gomez, Estrada, and Olander finished third with a time of 2:10.08.

100 Yard Breaststroke
• Estrada recorded a second place finish with a time of 1:23.02

50 Yard Freestyle
Camila Gordillo (Naugatuck, Conn.) swam hard behind a time of 33.77 which was good for fourth place.
Chisunta Chikwamu (Lusaka City, Zambia) finished just behind in fifth with a time of 41.73.

100 Yard Freestyle
• Olander earned second place finish with a time of 1:05.36
• Gordillo finished in fifth behind a time of 1:17.92

100 Yard Backstroke
Crisnelly Martinez-Tejeda (Stratford, Conn.) secured fifth place with a time of 1:53.10.

200 Yard Freestyle
• Gutierrez Gomez claimed first place behind a strong time of 2:15.32.
• Oliver finished in fifth place with a time of 2:39.78

UP NEXT
The Falcons return to the pool Saturday, Nov. 19, for a home swim meet against Gordon College. The meet is slated for a 1 PM start at the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center Pool in New Haven, Conn.
