The Albertus Magnus women's tennis team fell to Bay Path College 6-3 this past Sunday at the Celentano Courts in New Haven, Conn.

The Wildcats started off well winning their first doubles match as Symone Watson and Stephanie Morin took down Zaida Velazco (Dominican Republic) and Sandybell Anorga (Stamford, Conn.) 9-7. The Falcons quickly knotted the score with a 9-8 victory attributed to Stephanie Thy (New Haven, Conn.) and Malika Grant (Brooklyn, N.Y.).  However, Bay Path took the 2-1 advantage in doubles competition with another win.

Bay Path's Taylor Wood and Abigail Janneke had exceptional victories over the Falcons, winning 6-0 on straight sets.  Despite the play from Bay Path, the Falcon's freshmen Velazco and Thy proved they were difficult to deal with. Velazco defeated Watson 3-6, 6-2, 10-4 and Thy defeated Morin 7-6, 5-7, 10-7 as both remained unbeaten in No. 1 and No. 2 singles' play.

The Falcons take on Anna Maria at Paxton Sports Centre this Saturday at 5:00 P.M. This match serves as the first of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) competition in 2013.
