Newton, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College women's tennis team defeated Mount Ida, 6-3, on Wednesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Mount Ida College Tennis Courts.

The Falcons (4-3, 2-1 GNAC) recorded their second straight road win, while the Mustangs (1-6, 1-2 GNAC) dropped their third consecutive match at home this fall.

Albertus Magnus got off to a solid start, taking two of the three doubles matches to hold the early advantage. At No. 2, the AMC tandem of sophomores Alicia Weaver (Bethel, Conn.) and Izzy Sabino (Cheshire, Conn.) scored an 8-1 triumph. The Falcon pair of freshmen Paige Williams (Orange County, Va.) and Nallely Magana (East Haven, Conn.) cruised to an 8-0 victory at No. 3.

In singles play, the guests sealed the win by taking four of the six matches. All six Falcon wins came in straight sets. Magana and Williams were once again dominant in singles, winning by scores of 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Sabino also won her match at No. 3, easing to a 6-1, 6-2, victory.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, October 8, with a home conference showdown against defending GNAC Champions Simmons that is slated to get underway at 1:00 pm. Last autumn, the Sharks blanked the Falcons, 9-0, in Boston.
