Women's Tennis Uphended by Regis (Mass.) in GNAC Action

New Haven, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's tennis team fell to Regis (Mass.) 8-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday afternoon at the Celentano Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons' lone win came in No. 5 singles when Nallely Magana (East Haven, Conn.) swept Kailey Myers, 6-1, 6-4.

Regis (Mass.) got off to a quick start, sweeping doubles play in a convincing fashion, 3-0. Juniors Alicia Weaver (Bethel, Conn.) and Izzy Sabino (Cheshire, Conn.) fell at No. 1 singles by a score of 8-2, while the duo of Magana and Lakhena Rath (Danbury, Conn.) fell at No. 3, 8-3. The Falcon tandem of Jessica Coughlin (Durham, Conn.) and Kelsea Wildman (Conn.) put up a strong effort in No. 2 doubles, but lost by four, 8-4, to Carly Donovan and Amy DiPace.

Regis (Mass.) sealed the "W" in singles play, winning five of the six matches, to take home the conference win. Sabino recorded a strong showing in No. 3 singles, but fell to Carly Scanlon in both sets by two, 7-5, 6-4. Sophomore Paige Williams (Orange County, Va.) also lost both sets by two, 7-5, 7-5, to Gracie Jarest.
