Falcons Split GNAC Trimatch in Season Finale

New Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Women's Volleyball team defeated St. Joseph's College (CT) 3-2 but was upended 3-1 by Pine Manor College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) trimatch on Saturday. 

In the opening match, Albertus posted a 3-2 victory with scores of 25-17, 15-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-8.  The match featured strong play from junior outside hitter Tiffany Ortiz (New Haven, CT/Career) who had a team high 14 kills with only two errors.  Junior middle hitter Elizabeth Williams (West Haven, CT/Hyde Leadership) added 11 kills for the Falcons.

The second match saw the Falcons take the first game 25-20 for an early 1-0 lead.  Albertus struggled to find a rhythm after the first game dropping the next two games 15-25, 14-25 respectively.  The Falcons battled in the fourth game but ultimately fell short 21-25.  Williams had a team high nine kills while senior right side Diedre Brown (Jamaica, NY) added six kills.

Albertus finishes the season 4-16, 1-11 GNAC with their four victories coming in the last 10 games of the season.

The Falcons honored their lone senior Brown at the game and will be returning virtually their entire roster to the court next season.
