The Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team fell to Gordon College 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-21) in its 2011 season opener on Thursday night in Wenham, Mass.
Senior Tiffany Ortiz (New Haven, Conn.) and sophomore Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) led the attack for the Falcons (0-1) as both recorded five kills on the night.
Manning also picked up four digs, while sophomore Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.) led the way with five. Acerra added two kills in four attempts as well.
Martiza Rosemond (New Haven, Conn.) dished out eight assists for the Falcons, while adding four digs of her own.
Sotear Dy chipped in with three kills in four attempts, while adding four digs to the Falcons' match tally.
Albertus Magnus returns to the court on Thursday, Sept. 8 as the Falcons will travel to Nashua, N.H. to take on Daniel Webster in a double header. The first of two matches is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
