Maritza Rosemond (New Haven, Conn.) dished out 29 assists and recorded 18 digs in the Falcons' 3-2 (26-24, 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 11-15) non-conference loss to Mitchell College in women's volleyball on Wednesday night.
Tonight marks the second-straight loss to Mitchell for the Falcons (0-8), who faced the Mariners (4-2) on Saturday in New Haven, Conn.
The Falcons won the first set 26-24 in a well-fought battle before Mitchell took the second set 25-22. Albertus took the third set by a score of 25-20 before Mitchell once again bounced back and won the next by a 25-23 score. The Mariners rallied and took the final set 15-11 to defeat the Falcons for the second time this season.
Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) led the Falcons with 17 kills on the night, while Elizabeth Williams (West Haven, Conn.) added 14 kills.
Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.) led Albertus with 28 digs as Leanna Velez (New Haven, Conn.) chipped in with 16 digs and one service ace.
The Falcons will host a GNAC tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 24 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Albertus will host Simmons in the first match of the day at 11:00 a.m. before facing Anna Maria at 3:00 p.m. Simmons and Anna Maria will meet between the Falcons' two matches of the day at 1:00 p.m.
