Women's Volleyball Falls to Johnson & Wales 3-0

Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.) recorded 12 digs as the Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team fell to Johnson & Wales (R.I.) 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-14) on Tuesday night.

The Falcons (1-10, 1-3 GNAC), who are coming off their first win in 2011, battled in the first set, falling 25-20 to the Wildcats. The score was tied seven times in the first set but the Falcons' recorded eight hitting errors that helped the Wildcats extend their lead.

Johnson & Wales (2-14, 1-2 GNAC) jumped out in the second set and went on to win 25-11 before taking the third set 25-14. JWU hit .467 in the second set as they hit 15-for-30 with one hitting error. Audrey Warren and Karlie Haack led the way for the Wildcats as they recorded 12 and 11 kills, respectively.

Natasha Finkbeiner dished out 21 assists, while Courtney Wright led the Wildcats with 20 digs.

Maritza Rosemond (New Haven, Conn.) led the Falcons with nine assists and seven digs.

Albertus Magnus will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1 as the Falcons host Mount Ida in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
