Falcons Fall to Mount Saint Vincent 3-1

Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.) recorded 19 digs and seven kills as the Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team fell to Mount Saint Vincent 3-1 (24-26, 25-17, 25-12, 25-15) in non-conference action on Thursday night.

With the loss, Albertus falls to 1-12 on the year, while the Dolphins improve to 7-14.

Acerra had seven kills in 21 attempts, while adding two service aces in the loss, while Leanna Velez (Waterbury, Conn.) dished out 26 assists.

The Falcons took the first set of the night 26-24 as there were three lead changes in the set.  Elizabeth Williams (West Haven, Conn.) recorded four of her team-leading nine kills in the opening game as she hit .375. Velez had 10 assists in that set as well.

Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) added eight kills for the Falcons and 16 digs, while Krista LaBissioniere (Meriden, Conn.) chipped in with 20 digs.

Mount Saint Vincent was led by Morgane Booker with 16 kills and four blocks, while Erin MacBride had seven kills, two blocks and 31 assists.

Albertus Magnus will travel to Chicopee, Mass. on Saturday, Oct. 8 to compete in a tri-match at Elms College. The Falcons will take on Becker at 1:00 p.m. then at 3:00 p.m. will face Elms to wrap up the day.
