Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Pine Manor 3-0

Led by 12 kills and three solo blocks from freshman Kelsey Pendagast (Shelton, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus women's volleyball  team cruised to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-10) victory over Pine Manor on Saturday afternoon at Mitchell College in New London.

Jenna Dececchi (West Haven, Conn.) and Maritza Rosemond (New Haven, Conn.) combined for 20 assists on the afternoon, while the Falcons recorded 20 service aces in the match.

The Falcons dominated the match as they closed out the first set by winning 11 of the final 13 points. In the second set, the Falcons jumped to an early lead and never looked back. Serving gave Albertus the advantage in the contest as the Falcons finished the set with eight aces in the 25-16 final.

In the third frame, the Falcons took a commanding 16-2 advantage and tallied 10 kills to lead them to victory. Pendagast led the Falcons in the set with four kills.

On the afternoon, the Falcons tallied 28 total kills in 66 attempts to register a .318 hitting percentage. Albertus' Lily Dy (Torrington, Conn.) and Krista LaBissoniere (Meriden, Conn.) both added eight digs a piece as the Falcons finished with 34 in three sets.
