Freshman Kelsey Pendagast (Shelton, Conn.) led the Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team with 10 kills as the Falcons cruised to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-12) Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory on Sunday afternoon.

Pendagast recorded her 10 kills in 25 attempts, while she added a solo block for the Falcons as well. For Pendagast, it was her 31st solo block of the season as the freshman has recorded 31 of the Falcons' team-total of 34.

With today's win, the Falcons earn their first GNAC victory of the season to move to 1-4 in conference play. On the year, Albertus is now 7-7 overall.

Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) added seven kills and 11 digs for the Falcons, while Alyssa Puccilli (Wallingford, Conn.) tallied 11 digs on the afternoon.

The Falcons dominated play for most of the match but fell behind in the second set as the AMCats led 12-9 before the Falcons went on a 7-0 run. That run was led by the serving of Puccilli, who added a service ace to the mix. Albertus took a 17-13 lead thanks to a ball handling error by the AMCats' Samantha Parker which sparked a 9-1 run by the Falcons to finish out the frame.

The Falcons opened the third set with a 6-0 run before extending their lead to 11-2 on a service ace from Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.). A kill from Pendagast ended the contest as the Falcons won the final set by a commanding 25-12 score.

The Falcons return to action on Friday when they host Sarah Lawrence in non-conference play at 7:00 p.m.
