Women’s Volleyball Rallies to Down Suffolk 3-1

Led by nine kills and 25 digs from Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team rallied from behind 1-0 to take a 3-1 victory over Suffolk University on Monday afternoon in GNAC action.

Suffolk (8-13, 2-7 GNAC) came out with an opening set victory, winning 25-20, after four lead changes and six tied scores. The Rams tallied 17 kills in the set compared to the Falcons' five kills in 29 attempts.

Albertus (8-9, 2-6 GNAC) turned things around in the second set as they held onto the lead for most of the frame, winning by a commanding 25-19 score. Suffolk tallied 10 kills in the set but added 11 hitting errors to assist the Falcons in the win. The Falcons went on to win the next set 25-20 followed by a final set score of 25-22. The fourth and final frame saw six tied scores but only one lead change as the Falcons ran away with the three-point victory.

Acerra had nine kills in 32 tries, while she added three service aces as well. Kelsey Pendagast (Milford, Conn.) finished the match with seven total blocks, including six solo blocks as she dominated up at the net. Pendagast added seven kills and three digs.

Krista LaBissoniere (Meriden, Conn.) dished out 22 assists and picked up 17 digs for the Falcons, while Alyssa Puccilli (Wallingford, Conn.) added 14 digs.

Suffolk was led by Tori Brillaud with 15 kills as she recorded 71 of the Rams' 182 hitting attempts. She added 18 digs and four service aces as well.
