Volleyball Sets Program Record in Wins as Falcons Blank Mass Maritime 3-0

With a 3-0 win over Massachusetts Maritime, the Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team earned its 11th overall victory in the 2012 season. With the win, the Falcons have surpassed their 10-win season in 1996 and now have the most wins in a single-season in program history.

With the victory, the Falcons have now won four-straight matches after sweeping its tri-match opponents on both Thursday and Monday.

The Falcons dominated play throughout the entire match, winning each set with ease, despite three tied scores in the first set. After opening the night with a 25-19 victory, the Falcons took the second set by a commanding 25-7 score before winning set three 25-12.

With the loss, Mass Maritime falls to 1-20 on the year.

Senior Maritza Rosemond (New Haven, Conn.) led the Falcons in the charge as she recorded six kills in 11 tries with no hitting errors. She added eight assists and two digs for the Falcons.

Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.) chipped in with seven digs and four service aces after leading her team in the 3-1 win over Castleton with 25 digs and 10 kills. Krista LaBissoniere (Meriden, Conn.) led Albertus with 14 digs on the night.

The Falcons will return to action next week when they travel to Pine Manor College for a 7:00 p.m. match on Thursday, Oct. 18.
