Falcons Finish Weekend With 3-1 Win over Bard

In their third match in two days, the Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team defeated Bard 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 25-14) led by freshman Caitlin Prete (Milford, Conn.) as she was named to the All-Tournament team.  Prete finished the day with 10 kills and 11 digs for her second double-double of the year.

Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) tallied her fourth double-double of the season, including her second straight, as she recorded 16 kills and 14 digs.

Senior outside hitter Mai Aurell-Foulser led the Raptors with a team-high eight kills.

The Falcons are now 2-4 on the year with today's victory.

Albertus opened the match with back-to-back set victories led by double-digit kill showings.  The Falcons jumped out to a 16-4 lead in the first set led by kills from Manning and a solid serving performance from sophomore libero Alyssa Puccilli (Milford, Conn.). A kill by freshman Amy Seliga (East Haven, Conn.) ended the frame with a 25-19 score in the Falcons' favor.

The Falcons held a strong lead in the second set before Bard made the score 19-18 thanks to a service ace and two hitting miscues by the Falcons. Strong serving by Ramona Onofrio (East Haven, Conn.) helped the Falcons finish out the set on a 6-3 run.

After falling in the third set to Bard, the Falcons dominated the final set to secure the match victory.

Senior Lily Dy (Torrington, Conn.) dished out 28 assists for the Falcons, her second-highest output of the season.

The Falcons will play in their home opener on Tuesday night against Mitchell College.  That match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
