Falcons Defeat Purchase 3-1, Prete Named to All-Tournament Team

The Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team defeated SUNY-Purchase 3-1 as part of the Purchase Invitational.  The Falcons edged the Panthers 25-21 and 25-23 in the first and second sets before Purchase came from behind to take set number three 25-17.  The Falcons battled back and cruised to a 25-16 victory in the final set to secure the match victory.  

With 34 kills and 16 digs, sophomore Caitlin Prete (Milford, Conn.) was named to the Purchase Invitational All-Tournament Team.  She joined Montclair State's Courtney Matlock, SUNY-IT's Emma Larson, Farmingdale State's Maia Cadle-Hinton, Rutgers-Newark's Sue Riley, and Purchase's Jenna Nardi.

The Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) was Montclair State's Hayley Merill.

The Falcons finished the tournament 1-3 with their victory over the Panthers being their third of the season.  In that contest, Prete led the Falcons with 13 kills and nine digs.

Against Purchase, Amy Seliga (East Haven, Conn.) added 10 kills and a team-high .219 hitting percentage. She added two assists, four service aces, five digs and one block.  Leanna Velez (Waterbury, Conn.) dished out 15 assists for the Falcons, while Ramona Onofrio (East Haven, Conn.) added 12 assists, a team-high five service aces, and three digs.

Alyssa Puccilli (Milford, Conn.) contributed as well with six kills and five digs as the Falcons collected 41 kills in the contest, the most they have had in a single match this entire season.
