Albertus Magnus fell in a pair of volleyball matches on Saturday in New Haven despite two hard fought matches. The Falcons first dropped a 3-0 decision to Norwich by scores of 25-10, 25-21, and 26-24. In their second match of the day, the Falcons fell to Rivier 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-19).
The Falcons honored their lone senior Leanna Velez (Waterbury, Conn.) prior to the Falcons' 4:00 p.m. match against Rivier.
The Falcons were led by Caitlin Prete (Milford, Conn.) with eight kills and seven digs. She added one service ace. Ramona Onofrio (East Haven, Conn.) added nine digs and two service aces, while Velez had 19 assists and two digs.
Alyssa Puccilli (Milford, Conn.) had 10 digs to lead Albertus.
Rivier tallied 39 kills on the afternoon as Molly McCormack tallied 12. She added seven digs. Emily O'Reilly dished out 32 assists to go along with six digs.
The Falcons move to 6-19 on the year and 0-9 in the league, while Rivier improved to 21-6 overall and 8-1 in the GNAC.
