Willimantic, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball lost on the road to in-state foe Eastern Connecticut State, 3-0, on Tuesday evening in non-conference at Geissler Gymnasium. The Warriors (8-2) blanked the Falcons (2-6) at home for the second straight season. AMC has now dropped six matches in a row after beginning the year with back-to-back triumphs.

As a team, Albertus Magnus had 10 kills, 19 digs and one block.

Offensively, freshman outside hitter Ashley David (West Islip, N.Y.) led the Falcons attack with five kills, while junior senior outside hitter Amber Cohens (Hamden, Conn.) chipped in four of her own. Junior middle hitterAna Gomez (New Haven, Conn.) chipped in the other Albertus Magnus kill. In the middle, junior setter Marielis Muriel (New Haven, Conn.) picked up seven assists.

On the defensive side of the ball, freshman libero Nashalie Bayona (New Haven, Conn.) had a team-best eight digs, while David contributed four and Cohens had three.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, September 17, with a home Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) showdown with Simmons at 11:00 am inside the Nest at the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center. In the league opener for both squads, the Falcons are looking to avenge a 3-0 setback against the Sharks last autumn in Boston.
