Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team went 0-2 last week, dropping a pair matches by scores of 3-0. The Falcons began the week with a road setback against in-state rival Mitchell in non-conference action before falling to Norwich at home in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. Albertus Magnus enters the fifth week of the season with a 2-9 overall record and an 0-2 mark in conference matches.
This Week: The Falcons have a quartet of matches this week, sandwich a home match against regional foe Purchase and a tri-match over the weekend in New Haven against New Rochelle and Medgar Evers around a road match at Medgar Evers. Both the Albertus Magnus wins have come outside of New Haven this autumn.

Last Fall Versus the Panthers: Albertus Magnus scored a 3-0 victory on the road against Purchase last September. The Falcons topped the Panthers by a score of 25-21, 26-24 and 25-17. Amber Cohens led the charge for the Falcons in the win, recording a match-high 13 kills to go along with six service aces.

Cougars Cave
Last Year Against the Cougars: Albertus Magnus scored a 3-1 victory against Medgar Evers at a tri-match hosted by Bard. The Falcons scored a come-from-behind win by a score of 23-25, 25-4, 25-18 and 25-18. Ana Gomez paced the Falcon attack with a match-leading 14 kills, while Cohens added six of her own. Defensively, Gomez added six digs and Marielis Muriel had five.

Last Autumn Against the Blue Angels: New Rochelle defeated Albertus Magnus, 3-0, in New Haven last October. The Blue Angels upended the Falcons by a score of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-10. Gomez had three kills, three service aces and three digs for the hosts, while Muriel had 13 digs.

NOTES:
- Freshman outside hitter Ashley David continued her strong early-season play for the Falcons, averaging 2.50 kills per set and 4.00 digs per set in a pair of matches last week. In a setback versus Mitchell, David averaged one kill per set and 3.67 digs per set totaling three kills and 11 digs for four points. In GNAC play, she averaged four kills per set and 4.33 digs per set racking up 12 kills and 13 digs for 14 points in a loss against Norwich.
- David and Gomez are tied for the team lead with 71 kills. Muriel has been the leader in the middle for Albertus Magnus, recording a team-best 194 assists. Cohens has accounted for the most points on the team with 91.0 thanks to 11 total blocks, 20 service aces and 61 digs. Defensively, freshman Nashalie Bayona had a team-high 108 digs.
- The team has four returners and five newcomers this season.
- Seven of the team's first eight games will take place outside of New Haven. Last year, the squad picked up four wins away from home.
