Paxton, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match featuring Anna Maria and Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday afternoon at the Fuller Center. The Falcons fell to both the host AMCATS and Monks, 3-0.

Albertus Magnus (6-18, 0-9 GNAC) has now lost five straight matches. All six of the team's triumphs have come in non-conference action this autumn.

In the first match of the afternoon, the hosts took down the Falcons by a score of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-10. Anna Maria had a hitting percentage of just under .300 for the match to earn the conference victory.

It was a balanced attack for Albertus Magnus as three different players recorded three or more kills in the match led by junior Jacqueline Gonzalez (Ansonia, Conn.) with five. Freshman outside hitter Ashley David (West Islip, N.Y.) added four and junior middle hitter Ana Gomez (New Haven, Conn.) contributed three kills. Freshman Jesselle Guzman (Santa Teresa, N.M.) had a team-high 10 assists for the guests.

Defensively, three different Falcons registered double-digit dig totals, highlighted by Gomez and David having 12 apiece. Guzman continued her strong play on both sides of the ball with 10 digs.

In the finale, Saint Joseph's (Maine) topped Albertus Magnus in three sets by a score of 25-10, 25-11 and 25-7. The Monks racked up 14 service aces, seven total blocks and 32 kills in the triumph. David led the charge for the Falcons with five kills, while Guzman and senior outside hitter Amber Cohens (Hamden, Conn.) both chipped in three kills apiece. Junior Marielis Muriel (New Haven, Conn.) had a team-best eight assists for AMC.

On the defensive end in the nightcap, four Falcons had 10 or more digs led by Gomez with 13. Muriel and freshman libero Nashalie Bayona (New Haven, Conn.) recorded 11 digs apiece for Albertus Magnus.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Tuesday, October 25, with a road non-conference showdown against CCNY that is slated to begin at 7:00 pm. The Falcons are looking to avenge a 3-1 setback in the Empire State versus the Beavers last fall.
