New York, N.Y. – The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team scored a 3-1 come-from-behind victory on the road against CCNY on Tuesday evening in non-conference action inside Nat Holman Gymnasium. The back-and-forth contest saw the guests drop the first set 25-21 before rallying to take the next three by scores of 25-22, 25-16 and 25-19.

The Falcons (7-18) snapped a five-game losing streak with the win, while the Beavers (7-18) lost their 11th match in a row. The road triumph was the first for AMC in nearly a month. All seven of the Albertus Magnus wins this fall have come in non-conference play.

The duo of senior outside hitter Amber Cohens (Hamden, Conn.) and junior middle hitter Ana Gomez (New Haven, Conn.) combined for 19 kills to lead the offensive attack for the Falcons. Cohens had a match-best 10 kills to go along with two service aces, while Gomez chipped in nine of her own. Another contributor up front for the guests was freshman outside hitter Ashley David (West Islip, N.Y.) with eight kills. In the middle, junior setter Marielis Muriel (New Haven, Conn.) did a good job of distributing the ball with 22 assists.

Defensively, Muriel had a season-best 15 digs for Albertus Magnus and Gomez registered 10 digs. Freshman Jesselle Guzman (Santa Teresa, N.M.) had another strong game, recording nine digs. At the net, Gomez and Cohens combined for three blocks.

Albertus Magnus closes out the 2016 regular season with a home Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match on Saturday, October 29, featuring Johnson & Wales and Lasell. The day of action is slated to begin at 11:00 am. The Falcons are looking to avenge a pair of 3-0 setbacks to both the Wildcats and the Lasers last autumn. Prior to the first match of the day, Albertus Magnus will honor the two members of the senior class for their contributions to the program.
