CORA LUQUIS NAMED ALBERTUS MAGNUS STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
For the second time this fall, freshman Genesis Cora Luquis (Meriden, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team has been named the Albertus Magnus College Female Student-Athlete of Week after her performance in week two for the Falcons.
In a perfect 4-0 week, Cora Luquis averaged a team-high 2.75 kills per set, while hitting .115 at the net. She also racked up 3.31 digs per set and fired a total of 18 service aces to go with a solo assist. Cora Luquis swung for 10 or more kills in three out of the four matches and finished the week with three straight double-doubles.

Game 8 Highlights:
- Sophomore Jesselle Guzman (Santa Teresa, N.M.) recorded a team-high 10 digs.
- At the net, the Falcons recorded a season-high .301 hitting percentage
- Season-high 14 service aces from senior Nicole Beard (Shelton, Conn.).

Game 9 Highlights:
- Freshman Genesis Cora Luquis (Meriden, Conn.) recorded her third double-double of the season with 11 kills and 13 digs as the Falcons defeated in-state foe Mitchell College.
- Following a timeout by the Marineers, 12-4, Albertus Magnus pushed its lead to 10, 24-14, before a kill by senior Marielis Muriel (New Haven, Conn.) secured the home win for the Falcons.
- Freshman Kimberly Keller (Bridgeport, Conn.) led the Falcons attack with a season-high 12 kills.

Game 10 Highlights:
- Sophomore Jesselle Guzman (Santa Teresa, N.M.) recorded a season-high 29 kills.
- The Falcons were led offensively by double-doubles from Geneis Cora Luquis (Meriden, Conn.) and Delaney Ruiz (Meriden, Conn.).

Game 11 Highlights:
- Five players for Albertus Magnus registered in double-figures in digs.
- Along with the double-double, Genesis Cora Luquis recorded a career-high 16 kills.

The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team was picked to finish 13th in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll.
A QUICK LOOK BACK AT LAST YEAR
- The women's volleyball team ended the 2016 fall season with a 7-20 overall record and landed in 12th-place in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 0-11 mark in league action.
- Head Coach Vanessa Rosario guided the Falcons to non-conference wins against York, Elms, Purchase State, Medgar Evers and CCNY.
- Albertus Magnus swept the season series with York and Medgar Evers, defeating both the Cardinals and Cougars twice during the autumn.
- The team also won back-to-back matches on two separate occasions in 2016.
- Albertus Magnus opened the year with two straight wins at the Blazer Invitational hosted by Elms.
