New Haven, Conn. - Sophomore Genesis Cora Luquis (Meriden, Conn.) recorded a team-high 11 kills behind a .455 hitting percentage as the Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team defeated Purchase College in straight sets, 3-0, Monday evening in non-conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One: Albertus 25 | Purchase 12
- Albertus opened set one with a 15-5 lead behind five kills from Cora Luquis.
- Purchase battled to within six, 15-9, following a short run, but Albertus sealed the win with a 10-3 run.
Set Two: Albertus 25 | Purchase 8
- Albertus controlled the set and held a 15-7 lead entering a Purchase timeout.
- The Falcons closed out the frame with a 10-1 rally sparked by a ball handling error by the Panthers.
- As a team, Albertus recorded a .400 hitting percentage.
Set Three: Albertus 25 | Purchase 17
- Purchase threatened Albertus in the third, cutting the Falcons' lead to within two, 17-15.
- However, Albertus claimed set three, 25-17, following a 8-2 run.
- The Falcons registered 12 kills in third, compared to 11 kills in both the first and second set, respectively.
- Also in the third, freshman Jianni Montero (New Haven, Conn.) registered her first assist of the season as well as recorded three digs in her college debut.
