Women's Volleyball Suffers Two Loss at GNAC Tri-Match at Anna Maria

Paxton, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons took part in a GNAC tri-match at Anna Maria College, falling to Lasell University in the opener, before suffering a four-set setback to the hosts AMCATS in the nightcap.

  • Lasell went ahead in the first set with a .200 hitting to open the match.
  • The Falcons fought back in the second set, outhitting their foe by a .129-to-.054.
  • Unfortunately for Albertus, this hitting advantage did not lead to a win in the set, as the Lasers held on for a 25-22 victory.
  • Lasell found its footing in the third set, closing the match with a 25-16 victory after hitting at a .419 clip.
  • The trio of Elayna Beutel (Prospect, Conn.), Joismar Avilés (Hatillo, Puerto Rico) & Diana Kalman (East Haven, Conn.) led the Falcons with six kills each.
  • Jaiden Williams (Orange, Conn.) assisted on 14 of Albertus' 22 kills.
  • Defensively, Rachael Pellegrini (Clinton, Conn.) paced the Falcons with eight digs.
  • Beutel ended the opening match with a team-best four blocks.
