Women's Volleyball Drops Five-Set Thriller to Bay Path in Opener

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team fought to the very end of its season-opening five-set loss to Bay Path University on Thursday night.

Senior Diana Kalman (East Haven, Conn.) kicked off her senior season with a bang, tallying a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS
• The Wildcats took the early 1-0 lead after the first set, topping the Falcons by a 25-19 final score.
• Albertus rebounded by taking the second set, 25-20, after owning a .150-to-.069 hitting percentage advantage.
• The even match continued in the third, with Bay Path winning the set, 25-23, to take a slim 2-1 lead.
• As it did all night, Albertus answered by executing an exciting comeback 26-24 victory in the fourth set to force a fifth.
• Unfortunately for the Falcons, the Wildcats caught fire late to secure a 15-7 victory in the fifth for a 3-2 win in the match.

• Tonight's match marked the Falcons' third five-set contest over the last two seasons.
• The Wildcats improved to 8-6 in the all-time series against AMC.
Rachael Pellegrini (Clinton, Conn.) set a new career-high with 25 assists tonight.

UP NEXT
The Falcons will have a day off before returning to the court on Saturday, Sept. 3, for a home tri-match against Purchase St. and Fisher College. The day's first match will see Albertus challenge the Panthers at 11 a.m. in the Athletic Center.
