Ralston, Raposo Awarded Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After posting outstanding performances in the first week of their seasons, Derek Ralston (Guilford, Conn.) of the men's lacrosse team and Katherine Raposo (Warwick, R.I.) of the women's lacrosse team were named the Albertus Magnus College Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week.

Ralston led the way for the Falcons in a 1-1 week, pacing the team with 12 points on six goals and six assists. The senior began his week with one goal and two ground balls in Albertus' hard-fought setback to Purchase College on Thursday. He then exploded for 11 points on five goals and six assists, all of which are career-highs, in the Falcons' 26-4 victory over Eastern Nazarene College on Sunday.

The Albertus Magnus men's lacrosse team returns to road action on Tuesday, March 15, to play Mitchell College at 3 p.m. in New London, Conn.

Raposo shined in her first two women's lacrosse games, totaling 14 points, 12 goals, two assists, 10 ground balls, and nine draw controls. The senior attacker first netted five goals and picked up five ground balls to lead the Falcons to a season-opening 11-4 victory over Purchase on Thursday. Raposo topped that performance in AMC's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener against Regis (Mass.) College on Saturday, posting nine points, seven goals, two assists, five ground balls, and seven draw controls in a hard-fought 12-11 loss.

The Falcons will be back in action on Thursday, March 17, with a home non-league showdown against Nichols College at 3 p.m. at Celentano Field.
