Baldwin, Geloso Field Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week Accolades

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After excelling on the diamond this past week for the Falcons, Tyler Baldwin (Cromwell, Conn.) of the baseball team and Ivy Geloso (Beacon Falls, Conn.) were named the Albertus Magnus College Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week.

Last week, Baldwin was fantastic for the Falcons, going 1-1 on the pitching mound over two appearances. The sophomore righty threw 13.0 innings and maintained a 2.77 ERA with nine strikeouts. The highlight of his week came against Dean College on Monday, when he tossed 7.0 innings of one-run ball to lead the Falcons to a 4-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win. On Sunday, he also held his own against conference powerhouse Saint Joseph's College (Me.), allowing three runs over 6.0 innings in a hard-fought 3-1 road setback.

The Falcons will return to the diamond on Wednesday, April 13, to play Mount Saint Mary (N.Y.) College at home at 5:30 p.m. under the lights at Rochford Field.

Geloso was outstanding for the Falcons last week, maintaining a whopping .733 batting average (11-for-15) in four Albertus wins. The senior tallied three hits in three of the four games, racking up five RBIs, five runs, two doubles, and a triple with a .733/.750/1.000 slash line. Geloso's impressive performance at the dish led AMC to GNAC sweeps of the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) and Regis (Mass.) College to extend the team's win streak to a program-record 16 games.

The Albertus softball team will look to extend its win streak on Tuesday, April 12, with a home conference doubleheader against Elms College at the Shea Softball Complex. The opening pitch of game one is slated for 3 p.m.
