Gagnon, Scott Awarded Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After leading their teams to multiple wins last week, Alex Gagnon (Montreal, Quebec) of men's ice hockey and Caitlyn Scott (White Plains, N.Y.) of women's basketball were named this week's Albertus Magnus College Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week.

Gagnon has been on fire of late for the Falcons, as he finished tied for the team lead last week with four points on three goals and one assist. He helped guide Albertus to a 2-1 record over its trio of games, including wins over Manhattanville College and No. 10 Trinity (Conn.) College. The senior forward opened the week with a goal and an assist against the Valiants on Tuesday before pouring in two goals to spark AMC's comeback win on the road against the nationally-ranked Bantams in overtime.

The men's ice hockey team will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 6, for a home 4 p.m. game against in-state foe Post University at the Ralph Walker Skating Rink.

Scott tied Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.) for the team lead in points over a pair of Albertus' wins this past week, averaging 21.0 points over 29.5 minutes. She also chipped in 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 13-for-26 (50%) from the field and 12-for-14 (85.7%) from the free-throw line. Scott played a crucial part in the Falcons' comeback win over Coast Guard on Monday as she scored a season-high 26 points with five assists to lead Albertus to an 84-82 home win in overtime.

The women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 3, as the Falcons open up Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play with a home tilt against Emmanuel (Mass.) College. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside "The Nest" at the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center.
