Falcons Sweep GNAC Doubleheader Over Norwich 4-1, 6-4

New Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Baseball team stretched it's winning streak to three games with their sweep on Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Norwich University on Wednesday afternoon.  The Falcons cruised to a 4-1 victory in game one before defeating Norwich 6-4 in game two.

Game One featured an exceptional complete game pitching performance by freshman right hander Brent Barth (Guilford, CT/Guilford) who went seven innings giving up two hits and one earned run while striking out six.  The Falcons offense was powered by freshman Patrick Dornried (Berlin, CT/Northwest Catholic) and Zak Sokolis (Meriden, CT/Maloney) who each had an RBI in the first two innings.

Game Two featured sophomore southpaw Matt Caputo (East Haven, CT/East Haven) tossing three scoreless relief innings after an offensive outburst of five runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning to give Albertus the 6-4 victory.  The Falcons would score five runs on three hits forcing two errors to take the lead before Caputo shut down the Norwich offense allowing just one hit over three innings pitched while striking out three.

Albertus improves to 9-18, 6-6 GNAC while Norwich drops to 0-21, 0-8 GNAC play.

The Falcons travel to Quincy, MA on Saturday to take on GNAC opponent Suffolk University.
