Falcons Fall to Western Connecticut 13-2

The Albertus Magnus baseball team dropped a 13-2 decision to Western Connecticut State University on Thursday night. Western's Eastwood improved to 1-1 as he threw a two hitter in seven innings of work.

Eastwood struck out eight and walked three in the contest.

Western scored five runs in the second and six in the fourth en route to the non-conference victory.

Albertus' Zak Sokolis (Meriden, Conn.) and Robert Gambardella (North Haven, Conn.) picked up the two hits in the ballgame.

Freshman Mike Hughes (Norwalk, Conn.) earned the loss on the hill as he was pulled after 1.2 innings after allowing five runs on five hits. Kyle Soules (Wallingford, Conn.) was the first Falcon out of the bullpen as he walked of his three batters faced.

Zairis Fernandez (Winsted, Conn.) also faced two batters, walking one and striking one out. Nick Sedia (Bronx, N.Y.) was the third Falcon out of the pen as he gave up six runs on six hits in one inning of work. Both Richard McLain (Guilford, Conn.) and Patrick Dornfried (Berlin, Conn.) also threw for the Falcons.
