Lyston Stands Second in Division III in Saves per Game

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Through the first few weeks of the 2019 season, Albertus Magnus College field hockey's Mikayla Lyston (Medford, N.Y.) has been one of the most productive goalkeepers in the country, ranking second in all of Division III with 16.67 saves per game.

In her first three collegiate starts, Lyston has recorded a whopping 50 saves, which includes a program-record 23 against Elms College on Saturday, Sept. 7. The freshman's also made 12 stops against Dean College in the Falcons' season-opener, keeping the contest close in a hard-fought 3-1 Albertus setback.

Lyston trails just Morrisville State's Morgan Dueber for the top spot in the list. Dueber has tallied 71 stops through four games in 2019 (17.75 per game). The next-highest ranking Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) player in the rankings is Lucy McNamara (9.00) of Simmons, who is slotted in a tie for 20th overall.

Albertus Magnus will play the program's first GNAC game on Saturday, Sept. 14, when it welcomes Lasell University to Celentano Field for a 12 p.m. showdown.
