Albertus Wins Fourth Straight With 72-59 Win Over Suffolk

Boston, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team won its fourth straight game behind an impressive performance from junior forward Jaqhawn Walters (Hartford, Conn.) over host and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Suffolk University 72-59.

The Falcons used a 19-2 run to open the game including 8 points from Walters during that span. Albertus would take a 40-23 lead into the half.  Suffolk would use a strong start to the second half to battle back and cut the lead to 58-54 with 4:34 remaining in the second half before Albertus would go on a 10-0 run before closing out the 72-59 victory.

Walters scored a career-high 31 points on 14-20 shooting and had a game-high 14 rebounds.  Senior guard Grant Ellis (Newark, N.J.) scored 14 points while pulling down 13 rebounds.  Classmate Shaquille Mitchell (Linden, N.J.) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds for the Falcons.

Suffolk was led by sophomore guard Michael Hagopian (Watertown, Mass.) who had a team-high 14 points and 6 rebounds.  Freshman guard Thomas Duffy (Fairfield, Conn.) chipped in 13 points and a team-high 8 rebounds in the defeat. 

Albertus improves to 10-3, 6-1 GNAC while Suffolk drops to 4-10, 3-4 GNAC.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, January 14, when they play host to GNAC opponent Saint Joseph's College (ME) at 1:00 pm.
