New Haven, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team topped New York University (NYU) by a score of 77-76 in a non-conference showdown Thursday evening at "The Nest" inside the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletics Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
NYU controlled the opening seven minutes of play as the Violets held a 10-point lead, 17-7, at the 13:14 mark following a made free throw from Cam Moore. The Falcons rallied back and took their first lead of the game, 24-23, after putting together a 16-7 run, including five-point straight points from freshman Terry Dawkins (Bronx, N.Y.).
The Violets would regain control of the half and head into the locker room up five, 45-40.
A three-pointer from Jule Brown put NYU ahead by eight, its biggest lead of the second half, with just over five minutes to play. From there, the squads went back and forth until the Falcons' late run.
A dunk from Dom Cristiano put the Violets ahead 76-69 with 1:18 to play, but Albertus scored the final eight points of the game to earn the win. The Falcons tied the game, 76-76, following a made jumper from Dawkins with 21 seconds left before taking the lead on a made free throw from Tyreek Perkins (New Haven, Conn.) with four seconds left.
Cam Moore's eight-foot shot to win the game at the buzzer fell just short as NYU was defeated for the fourth-straight game.
