WINTHROP, Mass. – In recognition of a tremendous collegiate debut, Albertus Magnus College men's golf freshman Shamar Wilson (Montego Bay, Jamaica) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Golf Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon. 

Wilson was fantastic in AMC's first event at the Mitchell Invite I on Wednesday, as he finished second in a 20-person field with an even-par 71, one stroke shy of tying for medalist honors. The freshman carded a 36 on the front nine and a 35 on the back. Wilson's 36 on the front nine tied the lowest score on the opening nine holes.

The men's golf team hits the course again on Wednesday, Sept. 14, to compete in the Saints Invitational, hosted by Emmanuel (Mass.) College at the South Shore Country Club in Hingham, Mass. The one-day event is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
