HOW IT HAPPENED
The first period featured a pair of power-play goals, one by each team. The Monarchs kicked off the action by netting a goal at the 15:33 mark of the period off the stick of Tyler O'Mara. O'Mara streaked down the left side of the ice and beat the Albertus goalie to the top-right corner.

Cameron Weitzman (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec) answered for the Falcons with just 50 seconds remaining in the period to tie the score at 1-1. On the extra man, Weitzman was able to sneak the puck past the goalie on his glove side with a little help from a screening Dino Antoniadis (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) in front of the cage. Jack Hannan (Kent, Conn.) and Alexander Lazier (Pointe-Claire, Quebec) both earned assists on the play.

Tied 1-1 after the first period, the game swung right in the Falcons' favor to start the second, as the team scored three times in the first 2:10 of the frame. Lazier kicked off the high-scoring period, taking advantage of a lose puck in the center of the zone to put Albertus ahead 2-1 just 22 seconds into the period.

Hannan was next to join the scoresheet just over 30 seconds later, beating the goaltender high to his glove side on a breakaway. Matthew Capisciolto (Russell, Ontario) capped off the frenetic two-minute stretch by scoring on a back-handed shot from the left side of the zone.

Despite another power-play goal by King's at the 3:37 mark of the second period, the Falcons added one more score in the final three minutes of the frame to seal a three-goal victory. Michael Forgione (New Vernon, N.J.) netted his first collegiate goal at the 17-minute mark on another breakaway, as Charles Risk (Medicine Hat, Alberta) fed him an open pass that he buried into the net.

Neither team scored in a quiet third period to secure the 5-2 final. Pierce Diamond (Edmonton, Alberta) picked up his third win of the season in a complete-game effort with 25 saves. Diamond has backstopped the Falcons to all three of their wins this season, allowing just two goals in each.
