NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse head coach Darryl Delia was awarded the Christopher Manner Coaching Award by Our Community Hero's Inc. for his work in the community both on and off the field.

Our Community Hero's Inc. is a non-profit organization established exclusively for charitable purposes. The organization recognizes members of the community who have dedicated themselves to making society a better place.

Delia built the Albertus Magnus men's lacrosse program in 2013 and has been the head coach for all nine of the team's varsity seasons. Before joining the Falcons, Delia had coaching stints at Division I institutions Sacred Heart University, Fairfield University, and Yale University to go along with time at Hamden Hall, Guilford, and East Haven high schools. His impressive career also included time in the professional ranks for the Ohio Machine and Chesapeake Bayhawks of the Major League Lacrosse (MLL).

Delia has spent a lot of time volunteering for numerous organizations, including the Westport Police Athletic League (PAL). The Westport PAL offers athletic programs for children in the area.
