WINTHROP, Mass. – After an outstanding junior season, striker Salah Oumorou (West Haven, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Offensive Player of the Year and made the All-Conference First Team, as announced by the league office Monday. Freshman midfielder Carlos Lopez (Bridgeport, Conn.) also appeared on the All-GNAC list, taking home Third Team honors.

Oumorou earned the second major award and All-Conference First Team nod of his career, as he also accomplished both feats in 2017 as the GNAC Rookie of the Year. The West Haven, Conn., native leads the conference and is top-five nationally in points (48) and goals (21). Oumorou finished the season one goal and two points shy of tying the Falcons' single-season program record in both categories.

Oumorou joins Albertus great Jamal Howard as the two Falcons to garner GNAC Offensive Player of the Year honors. Howard received this distinction after his record-setting 2011 campaign, when he tallied new single-season program records with 50 points and 22 goals.

Lopez takes home Third Team accolades after an outstanding freshman season. The rookie midfielder started in 17 of his 19 appearances and tallied three points on one goal and one assist. He also contributed to the Albertus defense that ranked fifth in the conference with a 1.69 goals-against average.

The final Falcon to receive recognition today was senior Diogo Cruz (Naugatuck, Conn.), who was Albertus' representative on the 2019 GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Cruz played in all 19 games this season as a midfielder, tallying one assist on the year.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 20 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
