Falcons Bested by Mitchell 5-1 in Men's Tennis

The Albertus Magnus men's tennis team fell to Mitchell College 5-1 on Monday afternoon in non-conference action in New London, Conn.

Mitchell secured the match-victory before inclement weather took over the area, forcing the match to conclude before the teams' could finish three of their singles' matches.

The Mariners began the day with a sweep of doubles' play before taking two of the three singles' matches that were played.

Graham Cavanaugh defeated Pete Zacharias (North Haven, Conn.) in three sets by scores of 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, while Zacharias and Joe Ineson (Milford, Conn.) fell in No. 1 doubles to Cavanaugh and Adam Diaz 8-6 in a close match-up.

Mathew Mezzei (Wallingford, Conn.) fell in No. 2 singles to Diaz by 6-4, 6-2 scores.

Ahmed Abdulateef (Hamden, Conn.) was the only Falcon to pick up a victory as he defeated Chris McKeon in No. 6 singles' 6-4, 6-0.

Albertus (5-4) returns to action at St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) on Saturday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m.
